Alcoholic Cocktail Collins Glass 2 ingredients

Recipe

  • 3 oz Vodka
  • Macks Julebrus, or any sweet, Red Soda (Raspberry)

Instructions

Made by MMJ (Norway). So far, just a few know it. There might be similar ones out there, but atleast I gave it a name. Borly is short for "Boris orly?", and is inspired by Boris Yeltsin, a former Russian president, who was known for his drinking and anger. The drink is Red, just like his face (and it reminds you of the old Sovjet regime).Fill the glass halfway up with ice. Then you pour around 3 oz of Vodka, preferrably Vodka. Fill up the rest with the Soda (Raspberry), and hopefully enjoy. You need to make your own Mix to like it. It does not hide the alcohol taste very well, and most of the Vodka will probably sink downwards in the cocktail. If you find it too strong, use less Vodka. Mint leaves could be a success, and Lime too. You could make it as a mojito, if you just replace the flavourless Soda with the Raspberry one, and adding some additional Vodka along with the Rum. Though, haven't tried that yet, leaving that to someone else.

About Borly

The Borly is a vibrant and refreshing cocktail that combines the crisp, clean taste of vodka with the sweet, fruity notes of a red soda, typically raspberry-flavored. This drink is characterized by its vivid color and approachable flavor profile, making it a popular choice for those who enjoy a balance of sweetness and spirit. The use of Macks Julebrus, a Norwegian soda known for its festive raspberry flavor, adds a unique twist to the cocktail, though any similar sweet red soda can be used to achieve the desired taste. The combination of vodka and sweet soda results in a drink that's both lively and indulgent, perfect for casual gatherings or as a festive treat.

The history of the Borly cocktail is not well-documented, but it seems to have emerged as a playful and modern creation, riding on the popularity of flavored sodas and the versatility of vodka in mixology. Its name and origin stories are less defined than more established cocktails, suggesting that it may have been born out of a spontaneous blend of ingredients rather than a carefully crafted recipe with a storied past. Regardless, the Borly stands as a testament to the creativity and innovation found in contemporary cocktail culture, appealing to those who enjoy experimenting with flavors and seeking out new, delightful beverages.

This cocktail is alcoholic, so drink responsibly! Best served in a Collins Glass, though any glass works!
