Share one in a review! The drink known as a "Carbomb," more formally called an "Irish Car Bomb," is a popular combination of Irish ingredients that creates a creamy and potent cocktail. This beverage consists of a glass of Guinness Stout, into which a shot glass filled with equal parts Irish Cream Liqueur and Jameson Irish Whiskey is dropped. The resulting concoction is quickly consumed, often enjoyed for its unique taste that is reminiscent of a boozy chocolate milkshake due to the fusion of the stout's malty richness with the creamy sweetness of the liqueur and the warming kick of the whiskey.
The "Irish Car Bomb" is a play on words, referencing both the Irish origin of its components and a dark humor nod to the car bombings that occurred during the Troubles in Northern Ireland—a naming controversy that has led to some bars opting for less provocative names like "Irish Slammer." Despite the controversy, the drink gained popularity in the United States after its creation in the 1970s, attributed to Charles Burke Cronin Oat, a bartender in Connecticut. Today, it remains a staple in bars, especially around St. Patrick's Day, celebrated for its bold flavor and the theatrics involved in its consumption.
This beer is alcoholic, so drink responsibly! Best served in a Beer Mug or Pilsner Glass, though any glass works!
