About Castillian Hot Chocolate

Castillian Hot Chocolate is a rich and indulgent beverage that hails from the Castile region of Spain. This traditional Spanish drink is known for its thick and velvety texture, achieved through the use of cornstarch, which acts as a natural thickener. The combination of cocoa powder and sugar provides a deep, chocolatey sweetness, while milk lends a creamy base. The drink is often enjoyed during breakfast or as an afternoon treat, accompanied by churros or pastries for dipping.

The history of Castillian Hot Chocolate is intertwined with Spain's introduction to chocolate in the 16th century, following the Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire. Spanish aristocracy quickly adopted the beverage, and it evolved over time into the thick, luscious drink we know today. In Spain, hot chocolate is traditionally prepared using high-quality cocoa powder, and its luxurious consistency has made it a favorite during colder months, offering warmth and comfort. This classic preparation reflects Spain's rich culinary heritage and its influence on chocolate culture worldwide.

This coffee, tea, or cocoa is non-alcoholic. Best served in a Coffee Mug, though any glass works!
