Alcoholic Cocktail Cordial or Sherry Glass 2 ingredients

Recipe

  • 1 1/2 oz Sansachun Korean Wine
  • 1/2 oz Cherry Brandy

Instructions

Chill the Sansachun on ice or in the refrigerator before serving. Simply pour 1.5 oz. of chilled Sansachun into a Sherry glass or traditional korean yakju glass, and top off with Cherry Brandy. The combination of flavors is remarkably pleasant and relaxing! Other varieties of Korean "yakju" (medicinal Wine), such as Baekseju could be subsituted.

About Cherry-Chun

The Cherry-Chun is an elegant cocktail that harmoniously blends the unique flavors of Korean Sansachun wine with the rich sweetness of cherry brandy. Sansachun, a traditional Korean rice wine infused with hawthorn berries, lends a delicate floral and fruity aroma to the drink, providing a soft, smooth base that is both refreshing and slightly tart. The addition of cherry brandy introduces a deeper, more robust cherry flavor, adding complexity and a hint of sweetness that perfectly complements the subtle notes of the Sansachun.

The origins of the Cherry-Chun are not widely documented, but it likely emerged as a creative fusion of traditional Korean ingredients with Western cocktail elements. Sansachun itself has a storied history in Korea, often enjoyed for its supposed health benefits and its role in traditional Korean celebrations. By combining this cherished wine with cherry brandy, the Cherry-Chun captures the essence of cultural exchange and innovation in the world of cocktails, offering a delightful and sophisticated experience for those looking to explore new flavors.

This cocktail is alcoholic, so drink responsibly! Best served in a Cordial or Sherry Glass, though any glass works!

Feel free to get creative with substitutions — try different fruit types, sugar substitutes, or liquor brands. Crafting cocktails should be fun!
