Alcoholic Cocktail Rocks or Old-Fashioned Glass 2 ingredients

Recipe

  • 8 ozcan Energy Drink (Red Bull)
  • 1 1/2 oz Cognac

Instructions

Popular with rap artists (Lil Jon, Ying Yang Twins) and in the south. This cocktail was created before the production of the "Crunk Juice" energy drink and was the original inspiration for the product. Lil' Jon himself is used in promotion of the soft drink and acknowledges this. The original cocktail is named after the style of rap Lil' Jon made popular, known as Crunk (Lil' Jon named two albums after the drink, Kings of Crunk and Crunk Juice). The mixture of Cognac and caffeine/glucose acts as a greater stimulant than alcohol would alone, akin to similar concoctions. Pour both ingredients into a cup or glass, stir slightly, and serve.

About Crunk Juice

Crunk Juice is a vibrant cocktail that combines the stimulating rush of an energy drink, such as Red Bull, with the smooth, rich complexity of cognac. This blend creates a uniquely balanced experience, where the invigorating sweetness and carbonation of the energy drink harmonize with the deep, oaky notes of the cognac. The result is a lively and bold drink that delivers both a kick of energy and a touch of sophistication, making it a popular choice for those looking to energize their night out with a touch of class.

The origins of Crunk Juice are closely linked to the early 2000s hip-hop scene, particularly with rapper Lil Jon, who popularized the term "crunk"—a fusion of "crazy" and "drunk"—to describe a high-energy lifestyle. Lil Jon even released a branded energy drink called "Crunk Energy Drink," which was often mixed with alcohol at parties and clubs, leading to the birth of Crunk Juice. This cocktail reflects the dynamic, party-centric ethos of the era, embodying the spirit of celebration and the fusion of energetic beats and luxurious tastes that characterized the time.

This cocktail is alcoholic, so drink responsibly! Best served in a Rocks or Old-Fashioned Glass, though any glass works!

Feel free to get creative with substitutions — try different fruit types, sugar substitutes, or liquor brands. Crafting cocktails should be fun!
