Alcoholic Cocktail Collins Glass 8 ingredients

Recipe

  • 1 oz Tequila (Gold)
  • 2 oz Triple Sec
  • 1 oz Tequila (Gold)
  • 3 oz Sweet and Sour Mix
  • 1/2 splash Grenadine Syrup
  • 1 oz Lime Juice
  • 10 oz Soda (Lemon Lime)
  • 1/3 oz Blue Curacao

Instructions

Invented by Blake Hughes in Huntington, WV. Made this drink before watching Quentin Tarantinos film "Deathproof." Pour ingredients minus Soda (Lemon Lime) and Blue Curacao into a glass. Transfer them into a collins glass half filled with ice, while adding the Soda (Lemon Lime) to the collins glass, making sure the Soda (Lemon Lime) goes in first and ends up on top. Then add the Blue Curacao and extra trequila to taste without stirring. Adjust sprite to taste (as is, taste like Spirte), then enjoy.

About Deathproof

The Deathproof cocktail is a vibrant and lively concoction that brings together a medley of flavors for a truly exhilarating drinking experience. This drink is a symphony of citrus and sweetness, balanced by the robust presence of tequila. With 2 ounces of gold tequila forming its backbone, the cocktail is bolstered by the zesty and slightly bitter notes of triple sec, while the sweet and sour mix and lime juice add a refreshing tang. A splash of grenadine syrup imparts a hint of sweetness and a subtle rosy hue, while lemon-lime soda provides effervescence, ensuring the drink is as lively as it is flavorful. The final touch of blue curacao not only adds a dash of color but also a hint of orange flavor, rounding out this dynamic cocktail.

The history of the Deathproof cocktail is relatively obscure, much like many modern mixology inventions. It likely draws its name from the Quentin Tarantino film "Death Proof," known for its high-octane action and bold, daring style, which parallels the audacious combination of ingredients in the drink. While not a classic cocktail with decades of history, the Deathproof represents a contemporary trend in bartending where creativity and bold flavor combinations take center stage. Its unique blend of ingredients makes it a standout choice for those looking to explore adventurous new cocktails.

This cocktail is alcoholic, so drink responsibly! Best served in a Collins Glass, though any glass works!

Feel free to get creative with substitutions — try different fruit types, sugar substitutes, or liquor brands. Crafting cocktails should be fun!
