  • 1/2 oz Watermelon Liqueur
  • 1/2 oz Schnapps (Peach)

  • 2 oz Cranberry Juice
  • 1 oz Sweet and Sour Mix
  • 1.5 oz Soda (Lemon Lime)

Instructions

Created by: Matt Bannister. Atlanta, Georgia. Popular around the West Georgia area. Soon to be a classic southern cocktail/drink. It embodies everything that the south is. Except no sweet Tea and no grits (thankfully). Enjoy!Begin by filling a 16 oz. glass or 16 oz. plastic cup (Dixie Cup) with ice. Then fill a boston shaker halfway with ice. Add the Southern Comfort, Watermelon Liqueur, Peach Schnapps, Triple Sec, Cranberry Juice, and Sour Mix to the shaker. Shake vigorously. Then strain the contents of the shaker over your ice filled glass/cup. Fill the glass/cup the rest of the way with Soda (Lemon Lime) and give it a quick stir. Garnish with a Watermelon slice or serve with no garnish at all. Either way, enjoy!

About Dixie Cup

The Dixie Cup cocktail is a vibrant and fruity concoction that captures the lively spirit of Southern hospitality in a glass. This delightful drink combines the rich, fruity flavors of Southern Comfort Peach and Watermelon Liqueur with the sweet, juicy essence of Peach Schnapps. A splash of Triple Sec adds a hint of orange zest, while cranberry juice brings a tart balance to the mix. The Sweet and Sour Mix contributes a refreshing tanginess, and the final touch of lemon-lime soda adds a fizzy, invigorating finish. The result is a colorful and refreshing cocktail that is perfect for warm weather gatherings or any occasion that calls for a bit of Southern charm.

The Dixie Cup cocktail likely draws inspiration from the Southern tradition of using simple, readily available ingredients to create refreshing beverages. Though its exact origins are not well-documented, the use of Southern Comfort—a whiskey-based liqueur originally created in New Orleans—suggests a connection to Southern cocktail culture. The drink's playful name evokes images of casual, laid-back gatherings and draws on the iconic Dixie Cup, a staple of picnics and outdoor parties. This cocktail is a testament to the creativity and adaptability of mixologists who blend familiar flavors to craft something uniquely delightful.

This cocktail is alcoholic, so drink responsibly! Best served in a Any Glass, though any glass works!

Feel free to get creative with substitutions — try different fruit types, sugar substitutes, or liquor brands. Crafting cocktails should be fun!
