About Eye-Opener

The Eye-Opener cocktail is a rich and flavorful mixed drink that combines the smoothness of light rum with the citrusy essence of triple sec. The addition of Pernod, an anise-flavored liqueur, adds a unique depth and complexity, while the white crème de cacao imparts a hint of chocolatey sweetness. The egg yolk and superfine sugar create a creamy texture and a silky finish, making it a decadent choice for those who enjoy a more indulgent cocktail experience.

The Eye-Opener is part of a class of cocktails known for their invigorating qualities, traditionally consumed in the morning or early afternoon to refresh and energize. While the exact origins of the Eye-Opener are not well-documented, it shares a lineage with other classic "morning-after" drinks designed to revive the spirits and awaken the senses. These types of cocktails have been popular since the 19th century, often featuring a combination of spirits, citrus, and eggs to provide both flavor and sustenance. The Eye-Opener stands out with its blend of rum and the distinctive aroma of Pernod, offering a sophisticated twist on the concept of a revitalizing drink.

This cocktail is alcoholic, so drink responsibly! Best served in a Rocks or Old-Fashioned Glass, though any glass works!
