Alcoholic Punch or Party Drink Any Glass 5 ingredients

Recipe

  • 10-15 Cloves
  • 2-3 sticks Cinnamon
  • 10 Cardamom pods
  • Some Lemon Peel (or Orange Peel)
  • Aquavit (or Vodka or Schnapps)

Instructions

Of course in Norway most people just buy an Extract. Anyway, this makes a pretty nice Glogg: Add cloves, cardamon pods, Cinnamon, and citrus Peel to a glass with a generous measure of snaps (akvavit) or Vodka. Let sit for a day or so. This makes a cery nice Extract that can be added to any decent Wine (Red). Just heat up the Wine slowly (dont let it boil!!), and add Sugar and Extract to taste.

About Glogg Extract

Glögg extract is a concentrated version of the traditional Scandinavian mulled wine, often enjoyed during winter festivities and especially around Christmas. This potent and aromatic blend typically includes spices such as cloves, cinnamon sticks, and cardamom pods, which are combined with citrus notes from lemon or orange peel. The choice of alcohol, whether aquavit, vodka, or schnapps, adds a warming kick to the mix. The extract is meant to be mixed with wine or other beverages to create a comforting and festive drink that can be customized to individual taste preferences.

Historically, glögg has its roots in the Nordic countries, where it has been a cherished part of holiday celebrations for centuries. The tradition of spiced and heated wine dates back to the early 17th century, with influences from similar concoctions in Germany and other parts of Europe. Over time, glögg evolved into a uniquely Scandinavian staple, enjoyed in various forms across Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Finland. The use of spices and citrus in glögg extract not only enhances its flavor but also reflects the region's long-standing trade connections and cultural exchanges. Today, glögg continues to be a symbol of warmth and hospitality during the cold winter months.
