Recipe

  • 1 oz Vodka
  • 1 ozclear Banana Liqueur
  • 1 oz Coconut Rum
  • 1.5 oz Juice (Passion Fruit)
  • 1.5 oz Soda (Lemon Lime)

Instructions

I first had this drink at Tikis Bar and Grill in Waikiki Beach. Its named after Greg Bradys infamous wipeout while surfing during the Hawaii vacation episodes of the Brady Bunch. I called the bar a few months later for the recipe...the bartender said the amounts of Passion Fruit Juice and Soda (Lemon Lime) can be increased if desired.Pour all five ingredients into a cocktail shaker and shake thoroughly. Pour mixture into a hurricane glass over crushed ice. Garnish with a cocktail umbrella, if desired.

About Greg Brady Wipeout

The Greg Brady Wipeout is a vibrant and tropical cocktail that captures the carefree spirit of a beachside escape. Combining 1 oz of vodka, 1 oz of clear banana liqueur, and 1 oz of coconut rum, this drink delivers a smooth and fruity base that's both refreshing and invigorating. The addition of 1.5 oz of passion fruit juice lends a tangy sweetness, while 1.5 oz of lemon-lime soda adds a fizzy, citrusy finish. Together, these ingredients create a balanced and exotic flavor profile that is reminiscent of sunny days and ocean breezes.

The cocktail's name, Greg Brady Wipeout, likely draws inspiration from the classic TV show "The Brady Bunch," with Greg Brady being one of the iconic characters. The "wipeout" element evokes images of surfing culture, aligning perfectly with the tropical ingredients and the laid-back vibe of the drink. While there isn't a detailed history of how or when this cocktail was first concocted, its ingredients and playful name suggest it was designed to bring a sense of fun and nostalgia, making it a perfect choice for themed parties or simply unwinding after a long day.

This cocktail is alcoholic, so drink responsibly! Best served in a Hurricane Glass, though any glass works!

Feel free to get creative with substitutions — try different fruit types, sugar substitutes, or liquor brands. Crafting cocktails should be fun!
