About Hakkespett

The Hakkespett is a bold and intriguing shot that combines two potent and aromatic liqueurs: Cointreau and Green Chartreuse. With 5 cl of each, this drink offers a unique blend of flavors. Cointreau, a premium triple sec, brings a bright, citrusy sweetness with its distinct orange peel notes, while Green Chartreuse, a complex herbal liqueur made by Carthusian monks, adds a powerful and spicy herbal depth with hints of mint, thyme, and other botanicals. The combination of these two liqueurs creates a harmonious balance of sweet and herbal notes, making the Hakkespett a vibrant and memorable shot.

The origin of the Hakkespett shot is not well-documented, but it reflects a creative approach to mixing classic liqueurs. Cointreau has been a staple in cocktails since the 19th century, known for its versatility and bright citrus profile. Green Chartreuse, with its mysterious recipe of 130 herbs and spices, dates back to the 18th century and has a storied history tied to the Carthusian order in France. Together, these ingredients showcase a blend of tradition and innovation, inviting adventurous drinkers to explore the complex interplay of flavors in this distinctive shot. The name "Hakkespett," which means woodpecker in Norwegian, hints at the bold impact and memorable impression this drink leaves.

This shot is alcoholic, so drink responsibly! Best served in a Highball Glass, though any glass works!
