Alcoholic Cocktail Highball Glass 5 ingredients

Recipe

  • 1 oz Bourbon Whiskey
  • 1 oz Rum
  • 1 oz Amaretto Almond Liqueur
  • 1 oz Triple Sec
  • 2 oz Cola

Instructions

I, Tim Shriver invented this drink for my friend Cory who is a fan of Bourbon Whiskey, 151 Rum and Amaretto, at Illinois Weleyan University in Bloomington, Illinois. Based on a drink called the Hard Core, it seems only to be popular with the man it was invented for. I fear this drink won't be the next Harvey Wallbanger. Originally, this drink was served ungarnished. Be careful, this is a very potent drink. If desired, it may be served in a larger collins glass and diluted with more Cola.Build this drink, in order, in an ice-filled highball glass, stirring well in the serving glass before filling with Cola. The 2 oz of Cola is an approximation. It is intended to be filled to the brim with Cola, to dilute the alcohol, and mixed gently so as not to flatten the carbonation. A garnish of a marachino Cherry and/or Lime or Lemon is optional.

About Hard Cory

The Hard Cory is a robust and flavorful cocktail that brings together a diverse mix of spirits and a splash of cola for a sweet, fizzy finish. The drink starts with a base of bourbon whiskey, known for its rich, caramel notes and smooth, warm finish, which pairs beautifully with the tropical, sweet undertones of rum. Adding to this is the amaretto almond liqueur, which introduces a nutty, sweet flavor, perfectly complemented by the bright citrus kick of triple sec. Finally, the drink is topped with cola, adding a refreshing effervescence and a touch of sweetness that ties all the flavors together.

The origin of the Hard Cory is not widely documented, suggesting it may be a modern or less-known concoction, possibly created by an inventive bartender looking to mix classic spirits with a twist. The combination of bourbon and rum is reminiscent of other classic cocktails, while the addition of amaretto and triple sec gives it a unique taste profile that stands out. The Hard Cory can be seen as a testament to the creativity and innovation present in contemporary cocktail culture, where traditional ingredients are often reimagined in exciting, unexpected ways.

This cocktail is alcoholic, so drink responsibly! Best served in a Highball Glass, though any glass works!

Feel free to get creative with substitutions — try different fruit types, sugar substitutes, or liquor brands. Crafting cocktails should be fun!
