Alcoholic Cocktail Any Glass 2 ingredients

Recipe

  • 1 bottle Rock and Rye Liqueur
  • 1 bottleOld 1889 Whiskey

Instructions

Bob, my neighbor at Lake Dabinawa, used to serve this drink at his bar in Wesport - Kansas City, MO back in 40s - 70s. It was called a "half & half". After four of these cocktails, one could only call it a "Harf & Harf". The rest is history. This is a mandatory drink in the afternoon after a nice day at the lake. Mix the two drinks equally and pour mixed liquors back into the bottles they came in. Store in the refrigerator. Seve over ice or straight.

About Harf & Harf

The Harf & Harf cocktail is a unique blend that combines the robust flavors of Rock and Rye Liqueur with Old 1889 Whiskey. This drink offers a harmonious marriage of sweet and spicy notes, with the Rock and Rye Liqueur bringing a touch of fruitiness and sweetness, often enhanced with citrus and spices, while the Old 1889 Whiskey provides a smooth, malty backbone. It's a drink that captures the essence of American whiskey craftsmanship, appealing to those who appreciate depth and complexity in their cocktails.

The history of the Harf & Harf is rooted in the tradition of combining different spirits to create a balanced and intriguing flavor profile. Rock and Rye, originally a medicinal tonic in the 19th century, has evolved into a beloved liqueur that pairs well with whiskey to create a drink that is both comforting and invigorating. The Old 1889 Whiskey, known for its rich and smooth qualities, complements the Rock and Rye beautifully, making this cocktail a testament to the enduring appeal of classic American spirits. This combination speaks to a time when bartenders experimented with ingredients to craft drinks that were not only delicious but also told a story of heritage and innovation.

This cocktail is alcoholic, so drink responsibly! Best served in a Any Glass, though any glass works!

Feel free to get creative with substitutions — try different fruit types, sugar substitutes, or liquor brands. Crafting cocktails should be fun!
