About Irish Coffee (Simple)

Irish Coffee is a warm and comforting cocktail that combines the robust flavors of coffee with the smooth, rich notes of Irish whiskey. Sweetened with a touch of sugar and topped with a layer of lightly whipped cream, this drink offers a delightful mix of bitterness from the coffee, warmth from the whiskey, and creaminess from the topping. It's a perfect beverage for cozy evenings or as a luxurious after-dinner treat, providing both a caffeine kick and a gentle alcoholic buzz.

The origin of Irish Coffee dates back to the early 1940s at Foynes Airbase in Ireland, where Chef Joe Sheridan is credited with creating the drink to warm up weary travelers on a cold winter night. The story goes that when passengers disembarked from a Pan Am flying boat, Sheridan served them this hot beverage, which was an instant hit. When asked if it was Brazilian coffee, Sheridan famously replied that it was "Irish Coffee." Its popularity spread internationally when Stanton Delaplane, a travel writer, introduced the drink to the United States, helping it become a classic cocktail enjoyed worldwide.

This coffee, tea, or cocoa is alcoholic, so drink responsibly! Best served in a Cordial or Sherry Glass, though any glass works!

Feel free to get creative with substitutions — try different fruit types, sugar substitutes, or liquor brands. Crafting cocktails should be fun!
