Recipe

  • 1 1/2 oz Vodka (Lemon)
  • 1/2 tbsp Sugar
  • 1 tbspfresh Lemon Juice
  • club Soda
  • 3 sprigs fresh Mint
  • 2 tbsp simple Syrup

Instructions

"I invented this recipe because one of my best friends LOVES all of the ingredients of a classical mojito, but HATES Rum. I figured, if could add Vodka instead of Rum and serve it in a martini glass...... I could call it a marjito (combo of martini and mojito). I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!!!"Using 1/2 tbs Sugar, coat the rim of the glass. Muddle the Mint and Lemon Juice together and add them to the glass. In a shaker, add Absolute Citron (or any citrus flavored Vodka), simple Syrup, a splash of club Soda and ice. Stir or VERY gently shake. Remember...... this has club Soda in it so do not shake to hard!!!! Strain and pour into glass with Mint and and Lemon. Garnish with a fresh sprig of Mint (serve it martini glass).

About Marjito

The Marjito is a refreshing cocktail that combines the zesty brightness of lemon vodka with the classic elements of a mojito. This drink features a vibrant mix of lemon vodka, a hint of sugar, freshly squeezed lemon juice, and club soda, creating a lively and invigorating base. The addition of fresh mint sprigs imparts a cool, aromatic touch, while simple syrup offers a balanced sweetness. It's a delightful twist on the traditional mojito, ideal for those who enjoy citrus-forward cocktails with a minty freshness.

The history of the Marjito isn't well-documented, as it seems to be a modern adaptation inspired by the classic mojito. The mojito itself hails from Cuba, with roots tracing back to the 16th century. By introducing lemon vodka into the mix, the Marjito offers a contemporary variation that appeals to those seeking a citrus-infused alternative. Its creation likely stems from the ongoing trend of reinventing classic cocktails by incorporating new and exciting flavors, making it a testament to the ever-evolving world of mixology.

This cocktail is alcoholic, so drink responsibly! Best served in a Rocks or Old-Fashioned Glass, though any glass works!
