About Monkeys Lunch

The Monkey's Lunch is a delightful and whimsical cocktail that combines the rich flavors of banana and coffee liqueurs with the creamy texture of milk. This drink is both playful and indulgent, making it a perfect choice for those who enjoy a creamy, dessert-like beverage. The banana liqueur adds a sweet, tropical note that balances beautifully with the robust, slightly bitter undertones of the coffee liqueur. When mixed with milk, these flavors meld into a smooth and satisfying drink that's reminiscent of a spiked milkshake, offering a comforting yet exotic experience.

The origins of the Monkey's Lunch are somewhat elusive, as is the case with many cocktails that emerge from casual bar culture rather than from a specific creator. It's likely that this drink gained popularity in the latter part of the 20th century, as bartenders began experimenting more freely with flavored liqueurs and cream-based cocktails. Its playful name and approachable flavor profile have helped it maintain a niche appeal among those who appreciate novelty and sweetness in their drinks. Ideal for casual gatherings or as a fun after-dinner treat, the Monkey's Lunch remains a charming option for those looking to enjoy something a little different.

This cocktail is alcoholic, so drink responsibly! Best served in a Rocks or Old-Fashioned Glass, though any glass works!

Feel free to get creative with substitutions — try different fruit types, sugar substitutes, or liquor brands. Crafting cocktails should be fun!
