Alcoholic Cocktail Beer Mug or Pilsner Glass 2 ingredients

Recipe

  • 4 oz Vodka
  • 4 oz Hard Lemonade

Instructions

This drink was invented by Chuck Nourse in Van Dyne, Wisconsin when the local bar ran out of Orange Juice to make Screwdrivers. The clever bartender substituted Orange Hooch (now defunct), getting Chuck very drunk to which he declared the drink "puts a rocket in your pocket!". The drink was then made famous in Eau Claire, WI on the UWEC campus, and is also a mainstay in the Eagle River, WI and Minneapolis, MN areas. In a pint sized glass filled with ice, pour the glass half full of Vodka and then top with Mix. Orange mixes best, with Berry flavors also a favorable option. Vodka is preferred, as it mixes well and is not overly expensive for the quantities used in this type of drink.

About Pocket Rocket

The Pocket Rocket is a vibrant and refreshing cocktail that combines the smooth potency of vodka with the tangy zest of hard lemonade. This drink is perfect for those who enjoy a lively yet straightforward beverage, offering a balanced blend of sweetness and a hint of citrusy tartness. The effervescence of the hard lemonade complements the crisp, clean taste of the vodka, making it a delightful choice for warm-weather gatherings or casual social events.

The origins of the Pocket Rocket are somewhat nebulous, as it belongs to a category of modern cocktails that rely on the fusion of popular ready-made beverages. This simplicity and ease of preparation have contributed to its rising popularity, especially among younger crowds seeking a quick yet flavorful drink. While it may not have a storied history like some classic cocktails, the Pocket Rocket embodies the spirit of contemporary mixology by embracing creativity and convenience. Its name suggests an energetic and dynamic experience, much like the drink itself.

This cocktail is alcoholic, so drink responsibly! Best served in a Beer Mug or Pilsner Glass, though any glass works!

Feel free to get creative with substitutions — try different fruit types, sugar substitutes, or liquor brands. Crafting cocktails should be fun!
