About Polar Bear Cooler

The Polar Bear Cooler is a refreshing cocktail that combines a mix of bold and citrusy flavors, making it perfect for those who enjoy a complex yet invigorating drink. At its core, the cocktail is built on a foundation of dark rum, bringing a rich and robust depth that pairs harmoniously with the bittersweet notes of Punt e Mes red vermouth. The addition of lemon juice and orange juice infuses the drink with a vibrant, tangy brightness, while the cold lemon-lime soda adds a bubbly, effervescent finish that lightens the overall experience. This cocktail is well-suited for warm weather or any occasion where a cool, revitalizing beverage is desired.

While the exact origins of the Polar Bear Cooler are not well-documented, it draws inspiration from classic rum cocktails that often blend citrus and sweet vermouth to create layered and refreshing drinks. The use of Punt e Mes, known for its rich and slightly bitter profile, suggests a nod to Italian influences, while the combination of rum and citrus is reminiscent of tropical cocktails popularized in the mid-20th century. The Polar Bear Cooler stands out for its balance of sweetness, acidity, and a hint of bitterness, offering a contemporary twist on traditional rum cocktails.

This cocktail is alcoholic, so drink responsibly! Best served in a Collins Glass, though any glass works!

Feel free to get creative with substitutions — try different fruit types, sugar substitutes, or liquor brands. Crafting cocktails should be fun!
