About Rum Runner Island Style

The Rum Runner Island Style is a vibrant and fruity cocktail that embodies the spirit of tropical escapism. This drink combines a blend of dark and light rums, offering a robust and smooth base with rich molasses notes from the dark rum and a lighter, more refreshing profile from the light rum. The addition of blackberry brandy and banana liqueur introduces layers of sweet and fruity flavors, creating a luscious and exotic taste experience. A splash of grenadine adds a hint of sweetness and a beautiful, sunset-like hue to the drink, while a splash of lime juice provides a zesty and refreshing contrast that balances the overall sweetness.

The origin of the Rum Runner can be traced back to the Florida Keys in the 1950s, where it was crafted to use up excess liquor stock at the Holiday Isle Tiki Bar. Named after the bootleggers who smuggled rum into the United States during Prohibition, the cocktail has become a popular choice for those seeking a taste of the tropics. Its vibrant combination of flavors and its playful, colorful appearance make it a staple in beach bars and tiki lounges around the world, capturing the essence of laid-back island life in every sip.

This punch or party drink is alcoholic, so drink responsibly! Best served in a Hurricane Glass, though any glass works!

Feel free to get creative with substitutions — try different fruit types, sugar substitutes, or liquor brands. Crafting cocktails should be fun!
