About Rum Runner Mondays

The Rum Runner Mondays cocktail is a tropical delight designed to transport you to a sun-drenched beach with every sip. This vibrant concoction combines the smooth, sweet notes of light rum with a robust, fuller-bodied rum, creating a harmonious blend of flavors that perfectly complements its fruity base. The star of the show is the orange banana juice, which lends a refreshing, citrusy zing and a touch of tropical sweetness, making it a perfect choice for those seeking a taste of paradise in a glass. With a combined rum content of 4.5 ounces, this cocktail packs a delightful punch, balancing its potency with the juicy, refreshing flavors of summer.

The origin of the Rum Runner Mondays cocktail is somewhat shrouded in mystery, but its inspiration is likely tied to the classic Rum Runner drink, which was created in the late 1950s at the Holiday Isle Tiki Bar in Islamorada, Florida. The original Rum Runner was named after the rum smugglers of the Prohibition era who navigated the waters of the Florida Keys. While Rum Runner Mondays is a modern twist that highlights the same carefree, adventurous spirit, its precise origins are less clear, likely emerging as a playful variation meant to brighten the start of the week with a splash of tropical cheer.

This cocktail is alcoholic, so drink responsibly! Best served in a Hurricane Glass, though any glass works!
