About Scorpion

The Scorpion is a classic tiki cocktail that offers a vibrant and tropical escape through its flavorful blend of spirits and citrus. This party drink combines equal parts of light rum, dark rum, and brandy, bringing a bold and complex base that is both rich and aromatic. The addition of orgeat syrup, made from almonds and orange flower water, adds a sweet and nutty depth, while freshly squeezed orange and lime juices provide a refreshing and tangy contrast. A couple of dashes of simple syrup balance the flavors with a touch of sweetness, making the Scorpion a well-rounded and exotic concoction.

The Scorpion's origins can be traced back to the tiki bar culture of the mid-20th century, particularly in California, where Polynesian-inspired drinks and decor captivated the American imagination. The drink is often attributed to Trader Vic's, a famous chain of tiki bars founded by Victor J. "Trader Vic" Bergeron. Known for his creativity and flair, Trader Vic popularized the Scorpion Bowl, a larger, communal version of the cocktail served in a decorative bowl with long straws, perfect for sharing among friends. The Scorpion remains a beloved staple in tiki bars around the world, celebrated for its tropical flavors and social appeal.

This punch or party drink is alcoholic, so drink responsibly! Best served in a Wine Glass, though any glass works!
