About Sludge

The "Sludge" cocktail is a vibrant and visually striking drink, known for its bright green hue and sweet, tangy flavor profile. The mixture begins with two ounces each of Sour Apple Liqueur and Midori Melon Liqueur, creating a solid base that's both fruity and slightly tart. A dash of Lime Liqueur adds a zesty kick, while a dash of Grenadine Syrup provides a hint of sweetness and a subtle red tint that swirls through the drink, reminiscent of the name "Sludge." The cocktail is rounded off with two to four ounces of lemonade, which adds a refreshing citrusy note and balances the overall sweetness, making it a perfect choice for those who enjoy a drink with a dynamic and layered taste.

The history of the Sludge cocktail is a bit mysterious, much like many innovative mixed drinks. It's a modern creation likely inspired by the vivid colors and flavors of the 1990s and 2000s, when bartenders began experimenting with visually captivating and playful drinks. The use of brightly colored liqueurs like Midori and Sour Apple reflects the era's fascination with bold, eye-catching cocktails. While not as famous as classic cocktails, the Sludge has carved out a niche among those who appreciate its unique appearance and refreshing blend of flavors. Its name, "Sludge," adds an element of intrigue and whimsy, making it a conversation starter at parties and gatherings.

This cocktail is alcoholic, so drink responsibly! Best served in a Highball Glass, though any glass works!
