About Sweet Sangria

Sweet Sangria is a delightful and refreshing party punch that combines the rich flavors of red wine with the sweet, citrusy notes of fresh fruits and soda. This particular version uses two bottles of red wine, such as Gallo's LC Red Rose, which provides a robust and slightly sweet base. The addition of one cup of sugar dissolved in two cups of hot water enhances the sweetness, balancing the wine's acidity. Chunks of apple, along with wedges of orange, lime, and lemon, contribute fresh and zesty flavors, while two cans of Fresca soda introduce a bubbly, citrus twist that lifts the overall profile of the drink, making it both invigorating and easy to sip.

The origins of Sangria trace back to Spain and Portugal, where it has been enjoyed for centuries as a refreshing beverage during warm weather. Traditionally, Sangria is made with red wine and chopped fruit, often with additional ingredients like orange juice or brandy. The word "sangria" comes from the Spanish word "sangre," meaning blood, which refers to the deep red color of the drink. Over time, variations like this Sweet Sangria have evolved, adapting the classic recipe to suit different palates and occasions. This version, with its vibrant mix of fruits and sparkling soda, is perfect for modern gatherings, offering a sweet and festive twist on a timeless classic.

This punch or party drink is alcoholic, so drink responsibly! Best served in a Punch Bowl, Jug, or Pitcher, though any glass works!
