Alcoholic Cocktail Rocks or Old-Fashioned Glass 3 ingredients

Recipe

  • 2 Vodka (Cherry)
  • 1/3 oz Grenadine
  • 5 oz Orange Juice

Instructions

My name is Mike Oghia, but most of my friends call me "Ogie". One day I was at a party and they didn't have my usual, Coconut Rum and Pineapple Juice (aka, the "Panty Ripper") so I mixed something up based on things I liked that they had. I figured out Orange Juice, Grenadine, and Vodka (Cherry) are an amazing combination, and from then on, one of my favorite drinks became known as "The Ogie". Don't Mix it with any other Vodka (Cherry). Even though its a little more pricy (about $20 for a 5th) other kinds don't Mix as well and affect the taste. Ice is a must, it just doesn't taste right if it isn't cold. I've always just mixed it based on my own tastes, but I think that the above amounts will be a good foundation. Some variations of this drink include adding Soda (Lemon Lime), Ginger Ale, or Soda (Lemon Lime)/Sierra Mist (if you want a little more Sugar), adding Pineapple Juice (if you want extra tart), or even Mix the Orange Juice with Sunny Delight, or replace it with it. For anymore information, please contact me. I'm pretty sure I'm the first to come up with this drink, but I may not be. I looked for it, but I couldn't find anything like it.Mix ingredients over ice and serve. More or less Orange Juice can be used at the discretion of the mixer

About The Ogie

The Ogie cocktail is a vibrant and fruity drink that brings together the sweetness of cherry vodka with the tangy and slightly tart flavors of orange juice, balanced by the rich, syrupy touch of grenadine. This combination creates a visually appealing and flavorful cocktail, perfect for those who enjoy a sweet and citrusy beverage. The cherry vodka adds a distinctive twist to the classic orange juice and grenadine mix, resulting in a delightful drink that is both refreshing and indulgent. The grenadine not only enhances the sweetness but also provides a beautiful gradient of colors, transitioning from deep red to a sunny orange hue as it settles.

The origins of The Ogie are not widely documented, suggesting it may be a more modern concoction, possibly inspired by the creative blend of flavors found in various fruit-forward cocktails. Like many cocktails, it likely emerged from the desire to combine popular spirits and mixers to create an easy-to-enjoy yet impressive drink. Its simplicity and bright taste make it a favorite at casual gatherings and summer parties, where its vivid colors and refreshing taste can be fully appreciated.

This cocktail is alcoholic, so drink responsibly! Best served in a Rocks or Old-Fashioned Glass, though any glass works!

Feel free to get creative with substitutions — try different fruit types, sugar substitutes, or liquor brands. Crafting cocktails should be fun!
