About Toms Rum Runner

The Tom's Rum Runner is a vibrant and fruity cocktail that embodies the spirit of tropical escapism. This delightful drink combines light rum with the rich flavors of blackberry brandy and banana liqueur, creating a sweet and exotic base. The addition of grenadine adds a touch of tartness, while the orange and pineapple juices provide a refreshing citrusy balance. Served over ice, the cocktail is topped with a float of dark rum, typically Myers's, which adds depth and a hint of molasses-like sweetness. The result is a layered, visually appealing drink that is as delightful to the eye as it is to the palate.

The Rum Runner cocktail has its roots in the tropical paradise of the Florida Keys, where it was reportedly created in the 1950s at the Holiday Isle Tiki Bar in Islamorada. The drink was named after the rum-running bootleggers of the Prohibition era, reflecting its playful and adventurous character. Over the years, variations of the Rum Runner have emerged, each adding its own twist to the original recipe. Tom's Rum Runner, with its distinct combination of ingredients, offers a unique take on this classic tropical cocktail, making it a popular choice for those looking to enjoy a taste of the islands.

This cocktail is alcoholic, so drink responsibly! Best served in a Hurricane Glass, though any glass works!
