Alcoholic Cocktail Rocks or Old-Fashioned Glass 2 ingredients

Recipe

  • 2 oz Vodka (Cranberry)
  • 0.5 oz Vermouth (Sweet)

Instructions

Inventor: Pax Rasmussen of Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. Came up with this drink while trying to find a good use for that strange Vodka (Cranberry), which seems to only Mix with cran-Juice (Raspberry). Well, the touch of Vermouth takes the edge off the Cranberry, and chilled ice cold it makes a very tasty martini type drink. We liked it so much that we decided we had to name it: I thought the drink had a sort of dirty-urine color to it, and what with Cranberry Juice the home-remedy for UTIs, I suggested calling it a UTI. My friends were against it, but I kept calling it that and it finally stuck. Now people new to the group give VERY strange looks when I ask another friend of mine what he'd like to drink, and he asks me for a UTI!Pour Vodka and Vermouth into a shaker. Shake vigorously. Pour into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a wedge of Lemon or Orange.

About UTI

The UTI cocktail is a refreshing and slightly sweet drink that combines the tartness of cranberry-infused vodka with the rich, herbal notes of sweet vermouth. This intriguing combination results in a vibrant, ruby-red cocktail that is both visually appealing and delightful to sip. The cranberry vodka adds a subtle fruitiness that is perfectly balanced by the complexity of the sweet vermouth, creating a harmonious blend of flavors that is both sophisticated and easy to enjoy.

The history of the UTI cocktail may not be as storied or well-documented as some classic cocktails, but it likely draws inspiration from the popularity of cranberry juice in cocktails like the Cosmopolitan. Sweet vermouth, a staple in many classic recipes, adds a layer of depth and complexity. This cocktail represents a modern twist on traditional ingredients, showcasing the versatility of flavored vodkas and the enduring appeal of vermouth in mixology. Its name, while intriguing, is likely a playful nod to the cranberry juice's well-known health associations, adding a touch of humor to its appeal.

This cocktail is alcoholic, so drink responsibly! Best served in a Rocks or Old-Fashioned Glass, though any glass works!

Feel free to get creative with substitutions — try different fruit types, sugar substitutes, or liquor brands. Crafting cocktails should be fun!
