Ingredients: 6

Recipe:
1 oz Rum (Light)
1 oz Rum (Dark)
1/2 oz Orange Curacao
1/2 oz Orgeat Syrup
1/2 oz Lime Juice
Ice

Instructions

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Pour in the white rum, lime juice, orange curacao, and orgeat syrup. Shake vigorously to combine. Pour this mixture into a glass over ice. Slowly pour the dark rum over top so that it creates a floating layer. Garnish with a maraschino cherry, lime, pineapple, and mint. Sit back, sip, and enjoy!
A Mai Tai recipe traditionally uses orange curaƧao, but it can be hard to find. Grand mariner, Cointreau, or other orange liqueurs are great substitutes.

Mai Tai - Original Recipe - Summary

Invented in 1944 by Trader Vic Bergeron. He made rock Candy and used the Syrup from his rock Candy in the first Mai Tai. When he served it everyone shouted "Mai Tai, Roa Ae!" Which means "out of this world, the best. Mixing a classic Mai Tai is a great way to showcase the harmonious blend of rum, lime, and almond flavors.

This drink style is classified as a Cocktail and is Alcoholic, so drink responsibly! The recommended glass type for this drink is Old Fashioned Glass. We say, feel free to serve it in whatever you have available; it will still taste the same :)

You may also use different variations of the same ingredient. For example, you could change up fruit types or sugar substitutes. Other substitutions would include different brands of liquor. For example, if your drink calls for a specific type of whiskey, you could try using bourbon instead of Irish.
