Alcoholic Cocktail Rocks or Old-Fashioned Glass 2 ingredients

Recipe

  • 1 oz Scotch Whisky
  • 2 oz Tea

Instructions

Combine ingredients in a highball glass. Arizona Green Tea works fairly well, but the best is a chinese grand called "tong yi" that makes bottled sweet Green Tea.

About Beijing Mix

The Beijing Mix is a simple yet intriguing cocktail that combines the robust, smoky character of Scotch whisky with the soothing, aromatic qualities of tea. This two-ingredient drink offers a harmonious blend of flavors, where the depth of the whisky is complemented by the subtle, earthy notes of tea. The result is a balanced and refreshing beverage that captures the essence of both Western and Eastern traditions.

The history of the Beijing Mix is not well-documented, but it likely emerged from a fusion of cultural influences, reflecting the increasing global exchange of culinary ideas. As tea is a staple in Chinese culture and Scotch whisky is renowned worldwide, the cocktail may have been inspired by a desire to bridge these distinct yet complementary flavors. Whether enjoyed as a casual drink or a sophisticated cocktail, the Beijing Mix provides a unique tasting experience that celebrates the union of two iconic beverages.

This cocktail is alcoholic, so drink responsibly! Best served in a Rocks or Old-Fashioned Glass, though any glass works!

Feel free to get creative with substitutions — try different fruit types, sugar substitutes, or liquor brands. Crafting cocktails should be fun!
