About Blue Squid

The Blue Squid is a vibrant and visually striking cocktail, easily recognized by its deep blue hue and creamy texture. This drink combines the tropical and smooth profile of light rum with the citrusy and sweet notes of blue curaçao, adding a touch of the sea's mystery to its appearance. The white crème de cacao introduces a gentle chocolate undertone, while a teaspoon of cream gives it a luscious, silky finish. The Blue Squid is both a feast for the eyes and a delight for the palate, making it a popular choice for those seeking a refreshing yet indulgent cocktail experience.

The origins of the Blue Squid are somewhat murky, much like the depths of the ocean it is named after. It likely emerged during the late 20th century, a period marked by a fascination with vibrant and visually appealing cocktails. The use of blue curaçao became popular as bartenders sought to create eye-catching drinks that stood out in a crowded bar scene. While the exact creator of the Blue Squid is unknown, its enduring popularity can be attributed to its perfect balance of flavors and its playful nod to marine themes. The drink captures the adventurous spirit of mixology, inviting both seasoned cocktail enthusiasts and newcomers to explore its unique blend of flavors.

This cocktail is alcoholic, so drink responsibly! Best served in a Rocks or Old-Fashioned Glass, though any glass works!
