About Caesar

The Caesar is a distinctive Canadian cocktail known for its savory, spicy, and umami-rich flavors. The drink is made by combining vodka with Clamato juice, a blend of tomato and clam juices, which gives it its unique taste. It is then seasoned with three dashes each of hot sauce and Worcestershire sauce, which add a spicy kick and depth of flavor. Typically garnished with a celery stalk, lime wedge, or even more elaborate toppings, the Caesar is often enjoyed as a brunch cocktail or an appetizer.

The Caesar was invented in 1969 by Walter Chell, a bartender at the Calgary Inn in Alberta, Canada. Chell created the drink to celebrate the opening of a new Italian restaurant, drawing inspiration from the Italian dish Spaghetti alle Vongole, which features clams and tomato. Over the years, the Caesar has become an iconic Canadian cocktail, often compared to the Bloody Mary, though it is distinct in its use of Clamato juice. It remains a beloved classic, with many variations and garnishes that reflect regional tastes and creativity.

This cocktail is alcoholic, so drink responsibly! Best served in a Highball Glass, though any glass works!

Feel free to get creative with substitutions — try different fruit types, sugar substitutes, or liquor brands. Crafting cocktails should be fun!
