About Caesar Cocktail

The Caesar cocktail, often simply called a Caesar, is a classic Canadian drink that closely resembles a Bloody Mary but with a distinctive twist. It combines 1 1/2 ounces of vodka with Clamato juice, which is a blend of tomato and clam juices, offering a unique savory flavor profile. This is complemented by the addition of three dashes each of hot sauce and Worcestershire sauce, giving the cocktail a spicy and tangy kick. Typically garnished with a celery stalk or a lime wedge, and sometimes even topped with a rim of celery salt, the Caesar is both refreshing and flavorful, making it a popular choice for brunch or as a hangover remedy.

The history of the Caesar dates back to 1969 when it was invented by bartender Walter Chell in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Chell created the cocktail to celebrate the opening of a new Italian restaurant. Drawing inspiration from the flavors of spaghetti alle vongole (spaghetti with clams), he crafted a drink that captured the essence of the dish while being appealing as a beverage. The Caesar quickly gained popularity across Canada and has since become an iconic national cocktail, beloved for its bold flavors and versatility. Despite its Canadian origins, it remains a lesser-known gem outside of the country, often overshadowed by its cousin, the Bloody Mary.

This cocktail is alcoholic, so drink responsibly! Best served in a Highball Glass, though any glass works!
