About Charybdis

The Charybdis cocktail is a complex and intriguing drink that brings together a medley of bold and aromatic spirits, each contributing its unique flavor to create a harmonious yet adventurous experience. The base of the cocktail is gin, known for its botanical notes, which is complemented by the herbal sweetness of Benedictine liqueur. Scotch whisky adds a touch of smoky depth, while the inclusion of Fernet Branca offers a bitter, herbal contrast. Campari, with its distinct bitter orange flavor, further enhances the drink's complexity, alongside the herbal and slightly spicy notes of Jägermeister. Dry vermouth provides a crisp, dry finish, and a twist of orange adds a final aromatic flourish, balancing the robust flavors with a hint of citrus.

The Charybdis cocktail is named after the mythical sea monster from Greek mythology, known for creating whirlpools and representing an inescapable force of nature. This name is fitting, as the drink itself is a swirling blend of strong and diverse flavors that captivate and challenge the palate. While the exact origins of the cocktail are not widely documented, it embodies the spirit of classic mixology, where the art of balancing potent ingredients creates a memorable and adventurous drinking experience. This cocktail is perfect for those who appreciate the complexity and depth of flavors that come from the careful combination of diverse spirits and bitters.

This cocktail is alcoholic, so drink responsibly! Best served in a Rocks or Old-Fashioned Glass, though any glass works!
