About Dos Fashioned

The Dos Fashioned is a unique and intriguing twist on the classic Old Fashioned, infusing it with the rich, smoky essence of mezcal. This cocktail artfully combines mezcal, bitters, cherries, agave syrup, and Maraschino liqueur to create a complex symphony of flavors that tantalizes the palate. The smoky notes of mezcal are beautifully balanced by the sweetness of agave syrup and the delicate, fruity undertones of cherries and Maraschino liqueur. Bitters add depth and a touch of aromatic complexity, rounding out this sophisticated drink.

The origins of the Dos Fashioned are less documented than its classic counterpart, the Old Fashioned, which dates back to the early 19th century. However, the Dos Fashioned's creation is a testament to the modern cocktail renaissance, where mixologists experiment with traditional recipes to create new, innovative drinks. By incorporating mezcal, a spirit with deep cultural roots in Mexico, this cocktail pays homage to both the historical significance of mezcal and the timeless appeal of the Old Fashioned.

This cocktail is alcoholic, so drink responsibly! Best served in a Rocks or Old-Fashioned Glass, though any glass works!

Feel free to get creative with substitutions — try different fruit types, sugar substitutes, or liquor brands. Crafting cocktails should be fun!

What can you say? This is a classic and as a whiskey drinker, this one is a must. The bourbon is very forward, so choose a quality one. I prefer this in its traditional form, rather than the versions I've seen with lemon, etc. However, you can't go wrong when you make it right. No sugar cubes? I find that simple syrup does the trick almost equally well, they even make a light version that is barely noticeable. This will always be one of my go-to drinks and what I consider to be a "core" cocktail.
