About French 76

The French 76 is a sophisticated and effervescent cocktail that brings a delightful twist to the classic French 75 by incorporating citrus vodka. This elegant drink combines the crisp and refreshing flavors of citrus vodka, fresh lemon juice, and Cointreau, balanced with a touch of simple syrup for sweetness. A drop of orange-flower water adds a subtle floral note, enhancing the overall aroma and complexity. Topped with a generous pour of Champagne, the French 76 is both bubbly and invigorating, making it an ideal choice for celebrations and special occasions.

The history of the French 76 is intertwined with its predecessor, the French 75, which dates back to World War I. The original French 75 was named after the French 75mm field gun, known for its power and precision, much like the cocktail. Over time, variations of the French 75 emerged, with the French 76 gaining popularity by replacing gin with citrus vodka, offering a modern twist that appeals to contemporary palates. This adaptation captures the timeless elegance of the original while introducing a refreshing new dimension.

This cocktail is alcoholic, so drink responsibly! Best served in a Rocks or Old-Fashioned Glass, though any glass works!

Feel free to get creative with substitutions — try different fruit types, sugar substitutes, or liquor brands. Crafting cocktails should be fun!
