About Galliano

Galliano is a vibrant, golden liqueur known for its distinct herbal flavor profile, originally hailing from Italy. The homemade version captures the essence of the commercial product by combining a variety of ingredients to achieve a similar taste and appearance. This homemade liqueur blends distilled water, white corn syrup, and sugar to create a sweet base, while yellow food coloring is used to mimic Galliano's characteristic golden hue. The mixture is then enhanced with the potent flavors of anise and vanilla extracts, providing the signature licorice and creamy vanilla notes. The high-proof grain alcohol acts as the spirit base, giving the liqueur its kick and preserving the blend of flavors.

Galliano was first created in 1896 by Italian distiller Arturo Vaccari in Tuscany. The commercial version is named after Giuseppe Galliano, an Italian war hero, and it gained popularity for its unique flavor and versatility in cocktails such as the Harvey Wallbanger and the Golden Cadillac. While the original recipe contains a complex blend of over 30 herbs and spices, the homemade version simplifies this with easily accessible extracts, allowing enthusiasts to recreate a similar experience at home. This DIY approach offers a personal touch to the classic liqueur, making it a delightful addition to any home bar.

This homemade liqueur is alcoholic, so drink responsibly! Best served in a Any Glass, though any glass works!
