About Gaugin

The Gaugin cocktail is a vibrant and tropical concoction that embodies the spirit and flavors of the South Pacific, much like the works of the French artist Paul Gauguin, after whom it's named. This drink combines 2 ounces of light rum with a tablespoon each of lemon juice and lime juice, creating a refreshing and tangy citrus base. The addition of a tablespoon of passion fruit syrup brings a sweet and exotic element to the mix, while a maraschino cherry lends a hint of color and a subtle, sweet finish. The interplay of these ingredients results in a balanced cocktail that is both refreshing and evocative of a tropical paradise.

The history behind the Gaugin cocktail is not extensively documented, but it likely draws inspiration from Gauguin's time spent in Tahiti and his fascination with the island's vibrant culture and colors. The drink's tropical ingredients mirror the lush and exotic themes found in his artwork. While it may not be as famous as some classic tiki drinks, the Gaugin cocktail offers a unique twist with its emphasis on citrus and passion fruit, making it a delightful choice for those seeking a taste of the tropics in their glass.

This cocktail is alcoholic, so drink responsibly! Best served in a Rocks or Old-Fashioned Glass, though any glass works!

Feel free to get creative with substitutions — try different fruit types, sugar substitutes, or liquor brands. Crafting cocktails should be fun!
