About Hurricane #2

The Hurricane #2 is a vibrant and potent cocktail that captures the essence of tropical indulgence with a touch of classic mixology. This drink is a variation of the original Hurricane, a cocktail famously associated with New Orleans. Hurricane #2 is a spirited blend featuring an eclectic mix of 1 oz each of vodka, gin, and light rum, with an optional additional 1/2 oz of rum for those who desire an extra kick. The inclusion of 1 oz of amaretto and 1 oz of triple sec introduces a sweet, nutty, and citrusy depth to the drink. The cocktail is further invigorated by refreshing splashes of grapefruit and pineapple juices, which add a fruity and slightly tangy profile. A dash of grenadine not only sweetens the mix but also imparts a beautiful, sunset-like hue, making the drink as visually appealing as it is delicious.

The Hurricane cocktail has its roots in the vibrant culture of New Orleans. It was created during World War II by Pat O'Brien, a bar owner in the French Quarter, as a way to use up excess rum that distributors were pushing on bars at the time. The original Hurricane was a simple but effective combination of rum, passion fruit syrup, and lemon juice served in a curvaceous glass resembling a hurricane lamp. Over time, the drink has evolved, with many variations like Hurricane #2 emerging to showcase the creativity and diversity of modern mixology. These variations continue to celebrate the spirit of the original while introducing new flavors and ingredients to captivate cocktail enthusiasts.

This cocktail is alcoholic, so drink responsibly! Best served in a Hurricane Glass, though any glass works!

Feel free to get creative with substitutions — try different fruit types, sugar substitutes, or liquor brands. Crafting cocktails should be fun!
