Recipe

  • 1/2 fresh Lemon
  • diet Ginger Ale
  • cubed or crushed ice
  • premium Gin

Instructions

This drink, reminiscient of a highball, uses premium Gin, and is built in an old-fashioned glass, partly accounting for its name. The use of diet Vernors Ginger Ale, Lemon Juice with no added Sugar, and the lack of a garnish make this call drink satisfying and refreshing, yet light on calories - only 156 calories and 3 grams of carbohydrate per glass. Like a highball in a lowball glass; truly Iconoclastic!Fill an old-fasioned glass halfway with ice. Add the Juice of 1/2 Lemon and 2 oz. Gin (I prefer Bombay Sapphire). Stir. Fill the rest of the way with diet Verners and gently stir. Enjoy. Nutrition Info: 156 calories and 3 g carbohydrates per glass(!)

About Iconoclast

The Iconoclast is a refreshing cocktail that combines the zesty tang of fresh lemon with the effervescent bite of diet ginger ale, creating a light and invigorating experience. At its heart is premium gin, which brings a rich, botanical complexity to the mix. The drink is served over cubed or crushed ice, making it a perfect choice for a hot day or a sophisticated evening gathering. The combination of ingredients results in a harmonious balance of citrus, spice, and juniper notes, offering a crisp and invigorating sip.

The history of the Iconoclast cocktail is not extensively documented, but it reflects the modern trend of crafting lighter, low-calorie drinks that maintain a depth of flavor. By using diet ginger ale, it appeals to those who are mindful of their sugar intake while still enjoying a classic cocktail experience. The choice of premium gin speaks to a broader appreciation for quality spirits that has been growing in cocktail culture. The Iconoclast, true to its name, challenges traditional cocktail norms by blending simplicity with sophistication, making it a favorite among contemporary cocktail enthusiasts.

This cocktail is alcoholic, so drink responsibly! Best served in a Rocks or Old-Fashioned Glass, though any glass works!
