Instructions

Inventor: stitchedmonkey Origin: Costa Rica I named this drink "Monday at Midnight" because Tuesdays and Wednesdays are my days off from work and I improvised this drink for my wife on Monday night to sort of "inaugurate" our weekend, if you will. Vigorously shake the first three ingredients with ice in a cocktail shaker until Water condenses on the outside of the shaker. Strain onto a Collins glass full of ice. Fill the glass with Ginger Ale. Decorate with the Lime slice.

About Monday at Midnight

The Monday at Midnight cocktail is a vibrant and refreshing drink that combines the botanical notes of gin with the tangy zest of fresh lime juice and the sweet, fruity flavor of grenadine syrup. This combination creates a delightful balance of tartness and sweetness, which is then elevated by the effervescence of ginger ale. The drink is served over ice, making it a perfect choice for a refreshing evening beverage. A slice of lime not only garnishes the cocktail but also adds a hint of citrus aroma with each sip.

The origins of the Monday at Midnight cocktail are not widely documented, which adds an air of mystery to its allure. However, its composition reflects a fusion of classic cocktail elements, reminiscent of early 20th-century drinks that often featured gin and grenadine. The inclusion of ginger ale adds a modern twist, offering a nod to popular highball-style cocktails. This drink is ideal for those looking to enjoy a sophisticated yet easygoing cocktail, perfect for unwinding as the week begins or celebrating the stroke of midnight.

This cocktail is alcoholic, so drink responsibly! Best served in a Collins Glass, though any glass works!

Feel free to get creative with substitutions — try different fruit types, sugar substitutes, or liquor brands. Crafting cocktails should be fun!
