About Pain Killer

The Painkiller is a tropical cocktail that embodies the essence of an island getaway in a glass. Known for its creamy, fruity, and slightly spicy profile, this drink combines the rich flavors of Pusser's Rum with the sweet and luscious cream of coconut. The addition of fresh pineapple juice and a splash of orange juice adds a refreshing citrusy balance to the concoction. The drink is traditionally garnished with a sprinkle of nutmeg, which adds a subtle warmth and aromatic depth, and a maraschino cherry for a touch of sweetness and color. Served over lots of ice, the Painkiller is both a cooling and indulgent treat, perfect for leisurely sipping on a sunny day.

The Painkiller originated in the British Virgin Islands at the Soggy Dollar Bar on Jost Van Dyke during the 1970s. Its creator, Daphne Henderson, crafted the drink as a signature offering for the bar, which was famously accessible only by swimming to shore. The drink’s popularity soared, and it eventually became closely associated with Pusser's Rum. In fact, Pusser's trademarked the Painkiller name, ensuring that any authentic version would use their rum. Today, the Painkiller is celebrated as a classic tiki cocktail, evoking the laid-back, sun-drenched vibes of its island roots.

This cocktail is alcoholic, so drink responsibly! Best served in a Any Glass, though any glass works!
