Alcoholic Cocktail Any Glass 3 ingredients

Recipe

  • 12 oz Beer (Lager)
  • 3/4 oz Gin
  • 3/4 oz Lemon Juice

Instructions

The Pompous Mexican is a cocktail made from Corona Beer, Gin and Lemon Juice (ReaLemon brand is recommended). Its popular in New York Tri-State Area & San Francisco. The ingredients complement each other as the Beer smooths out the Gin, and the Gin/Lemon de-fizzes the Beer. This drink was created by Jon C. Hodgson in the summer of 2003. It was a hot summer, and he was alternating between icy Coronas and refreshing Gin & Tonics. One day he couldn't decide which one to have, so he simply combined the two (mostly... admittedly he left out the tonic altogether).1. Take a sip (or pour out) a small amount of the Corona, down to where the neck widens, creating room for the other ingredients. 2. Carefully pour the Tanqueray & Lemon Juice into the bottle of Corona. 3. Cap the bottle tightly with your thumb, invert until the ingredients Mix fully. 4. Drink and enjoy. Notes * The Corona should be cold (from a refrigerator). * While not required, the Lemon Juice should be cold (from a refrigerator) and the Tanqueray should be chilled (in a freezer). * "More" is not "better" - Using more than a half shot of Gin or Lemon will ruin the flavor. * Gins vary widely in flavor. While other gins can be used, the original Gin used by the creator is Tanqueray. * Don't use Lime as a substitute for Lemon.

About Pompous Mexican

The Pompous Mexican is an intriguing cocktail that melds the refreshing qualities of a classic lager with the botanical complexity of gin and the zesty tang of lemon juice. This unique combination creates a drink that is both refreshing and sophisticated, offering a twist on the traditional beer experience. The lager serves as a crisp and bubbly base, while the gin adds aromatic depth, and the lemon juice introduces a bright, citrusy note that ties everything together. It's a cocktail that balances the simplicity of beer with the nuanced flavors of a mixed drink.

The origins of the Pompous Mexican are not widely documented, but it stands as a testament to the creativity of modern mixology, where experimentation with unexpected ingredient pairings is celebrated. The name itself is playful, perhaps hinting at the drink's ability to elevate a simple beer into something more refined and complex. While it may not have a storied history, the Pompous Mexican offers a fresh, contemporary take on cocktail culture, appealing to those who appreciate both the comfort of a familiar beer and the sophistication of a well-crafted cocktail.

This cocktail is alcoholic, so drink responsibly! Best served in a Any Glass, though any glass works!
