Alcoholic Cocktail Rocks or Old-Fashioned Glass 5 ingredients

Recipe

  • 1 1/2 ozquality Tequila
  • 1/2 oz Midori Melon Liqueur
  • key Lime Juice
  • 2 tbsp Sugar
  • ice

Instructions

The best that mexico has to offer in one glass- Key Limes, Anejo Tequila, and Midori Melon Liquor. Key Limes are named after the keys but come from Mexico (where they are called Mexican Limes). Invented by Jasen "JT" Torres. Popular in southern california. Sparkling Lime Juice can be substituted for Lime Juice and Sugar where available. Use your favorite Tequila, but I recommend one that is 100% Puro De Agave (which is the highest grade in Mexico) as opposed to 100% de Agave.Pour 1.5 ounces (1 1/2 shots) of fine anejo Tequila, 0.5 ounces (1/2 shot) Midori, and Sugar into cocktail glass and stir to help dissolve Sugar. Add ice to fill glass, and then top off with Juice squeezed from Key Limes and stir. Can also be prepared as a martini.

About The Mexican

The Mexican cocktail is a vibrant and refreshing drink that beautifully combines the bold flavors of tequila with the sweet and fruity essence of Midori Melon Liqueur. This unique blend is balanced by the tartness of key lime juice, which adds a zesty kick to the cocktail. The inclusion of sugar helps to round out the flavors, creating a well-balanced and approachable drink. Served over ice, The Mexican is a perfect choice for those who enjoy a lively and colorful cocktail experience.

The history of The Mexican cocktail is not well documented, but it likely emerged from the creative experimentation that characterizes modern mixology, where bartenders and enthusiasts alike explore new combinations of traditional spirits and liqueurs. Tequila, a spirit deeply rooted in Mexican culture, serves as the foundation of the drink, while Midori, a Japanese melon liqueur, adds an exotic twist. The cocktail embodies a fusion of cultural influences and contemporary tastes, making it a delightful choice for those looking to explore something different yet familiar.

This cocktail is alcoholic, so drink responsibly! Best served in a Rocks or Old-Fashioned Glass, though any glass works!

Feel free to get creative with substitutions — try different fruit types, sugar substitutes, or liquor brands. Crafting cocktails should be fun!
