About The Sword in the Stone

The Sword in the Stone cocktail is a refreshing elixir that combines the botanical depth of gin with the delicate floral notes of elderflower liqueur. The addition of both lime and lemon juice injects a vibrant citrus tang, while grape juice adds a gentle sweetness and a touch of sophistication. This cocktail is a harmonious blend of flavors, where the herbal and floral elements dance gracefully with the zesty citrus and fruity undertones, making it a perfect choice for those who appreciate a well-balanced drink with a touch of elegance.

Inspired by the legendary tale of King Arthur, The Sword in the Stone cocktail evokes a sense of magic and nobility in its flavor profile. While not tied to any specific historical event, the drink borrows its name from the iconic story of Arthur's ascension to the throne, symbolizing the drink's ability to "pull" together disparate flavors into a unified, pleasing experience. The use of elderflower liqueur, which gained popularity in the late 20th century, adds a modern twist to the classic gin base, bridging the gap between traditional and contemporary cocktail crafting. This enchanting beverage captures the imagination, much like the legendary sword itself.

This cocktail is alcoholic, so drink responsibly! Best served in a Rocks or Old-Fashioned Glass, though any glass works!

Feel free to get creative with substitutions — try different fruit types, sugar substitutes, or liquor brands. Crafting cocktails should be fun!

Seeing grape juice as an ingredient almost threw me off but this drink is so delicious! All the ingredients pair so well together, and it’s very refreshing.

This quickly became a favorite of mine. I’ve never been a huge grape fruit drinker, but it puts this cocktail over the top. Use a good gin because it’s not as good with the cheaper ones. We now keep a tray of frozen grape cubes in our refrigerator, specially to make this drink. I highly recommend this one.
