Bees Knees
Alcoholic Cocktail Rocks or Old-Fashioned Glass 4 ingredients

Recipe

  • 2 oz Gin
  • 3/4 oz Honey Syrup
  • 1/2 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
  • Lemon Twist Garnish (Optional)

Instructions

Shake hard with ice, strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Optionally, (but recommended) is to also garnish with a lemon wheel. Honey Syrup is made by combining 3 parts honey and 1 part hot water and stirring so honey becomes easy to pour and shake. This can save money if you don't want to go buy the pre-made honey syrup.

About Bees Knees

The Bee's Knees is a classic Prohibition-era cocktail that perfectly combines the flavors of gin, fresh lemon juice, and honey syrup. This delightful drink was created in the 1920s, with some attributing its origin to Frank Meier, a renowned bartender at the Ritz Hotel in Paris, and others suggesting it was invented to mask the harsh flavors of homemade gin used during Prohibition.

The Bees Knees is a classic cocktail that perfectly balances the refreshing zing of citrus with the sweetness of honey. This delightful drink features the smooth and botanical notes of Gin, complemented by the rich and mellow flavors of Honey Syrup. The addition of freshly squeezed Lemon Juice adds a bright and tangy twist, creating a harmonious blend of flavors that is both complex and incredibly satisfying.

This cocktail is alcoholic, so drink responsibly! Best served in a Rocks or Old-Fashioned Glass, though any glass works!

Feel free to get creative with substitutions — try different fruit types, sugar substitutes, or liquor brands. Crafting cocktails should be fun!
