Instructions

I never understood how Gin got a bad rap. Gin always reminds me of summer, and for whatever reason, of New England. I imagine fancy ladies on the cape having cocktails at Tea time. Gin and Tonic comes to mind when imagining these fancy ladies, so in an attempt to bring Gin back, me and Simone made some Gin cocktails last night. I made a variation on a Gin and Tonic while Simone made a classic Gin Rickey. My variation on the Gin and Tonic strays from the classic recipe by adding sliced cucumbers and a sprig of rosemary. The Cucumber adds a subtle flavor that blends perfectly with the juniper Berry flavor of the Gin. The rosemary sprig adds an amazing bouquet of aromas that I'm sure those fancy ladies on the cape would thoroughly enjoy! This cocktail is amazingly smooth and refreshing...perfect for summer!Place the Cucumber slices at the bottom of the highball glass. Squeeze Lime Juice into glass and slightly muddle the Cucumber. Add sprig of rosemary and fill highball glass with ice. Add Gin, tonic, and finish off with a splash of Soda Water. If you prefer a less sweet cocktail, add less Tonic Water and more Soda Water. Enjoy!

About Cucumber-Rosemary Gin and Tonic

The Cucumber-Rosemary Gin and Tonic is a refreshing twist on the classic gin and tonic, infusing it with herbal and vegetal notes for a sophisticated and invigorating experience. This cocktail combines the botanical essence of gin with the crispness of cucumber slices and the aromatic depth of a rosemary sprig. The addition of fresh lime juice adds a zesty brightness, while tonic water provides a gentle bitterness that balances the overall flavor profile. A splash of soda water lightens the drink, enhancing its refreshing qualities. This concoction is perfect for those who appreciate complex, garden-fresh flavors in their cocktails.

The gin and tonic has a storied history, originating in the British colonial era when quinine, a key component of tonic water, was used to prevent malaria. British officers in India mixed it with gin to make it more palatable, thus creating the classic drink. The Cucumber-Rosemary Gin and Tonic is a modern variation that highlights the versatility of gin and the art of mixology. By incorporating fresh ingredients like cucumber and rosemary, this version pays homage to the traditional drink while offering a contemporary twist that appeals to today's cocktail enthusiasts. Whether enjoyed on a warm summer evening or as a sophisticated aperitif, this drink is sure to delight with its refreshing and aromatic profile.

This cocktail is alcoholic, so drink responsibly! Best served in a Highball Glass, though any glass works!
