About Prairie Chicken

The Prairie Chicken is an intriguing and unconventional cocktail that combines the robust flavors of gin with the richness of a whole egg, complemented by a dash of salt and black pepper. This savory concoction is more akin to a hearty breakfast than a typical cocktail, offering a unique experience for adventurous drinkers. The gin provides a botanical base, while the egg adds a creamy texture, and the seasoning brings a touch of spice and depth, creating a drink that is both bold and intriguing.

The origins of the Prairie Chicken are somewhat obscure, but it likely emerged during a time when egg-based cocktails were more common, such as the early 20th century. Like its cousin, the Prairie Oyster, it may have been touted as a hangover cure or a morning pick-me-up, utilizing the protein from the egg and the stimulating effects of the alcohol and spices. The Prairie Chicken stands out as a testament to the creativity and daring spirit of mixologists who sought to push the boundaries of traditional cocktail ingredients.

This cocktail is alcoholic, so drink responsibly! Best served in a Wine Glass, though any glass works!

Feel free to get creative with substitutions — try different fruit types, sugar substitutes, or liquor brands. Crafting cocktails should be fun!
